In the Community of Phelan
& City of Hesperia
December
2, 2016, San Bernardino, California, The California
Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has scheduled to begin work to
install a new signal at the intersection of State Route 18 (SR-18) and Sheep
Creek Road in San Bernardino County near the community of Phelan and City of
Hesperia. The safety improvement project will also install a pedestrian refuge
area at that location.
The
$800,000 project was awarded to Highland Construction, Inc. in late September
2016. General utility work began yesterday with no lane closures or impacts to
traffic. Work to install the poles and complete pavement work will begin in
early December with one-way reversible traffic control during working
hours.
The
scheduled hours are: Monday through Thursday from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and
Friday from 5:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
No
night or weekend work is expected.
It
is anticipated that these temporary lane closures will continue for up to four
weeks, weather dependent. The project is expected to be completed in 2017.
Motorists
are advised to plan ahead and add a little extra time to their commute.
