BVES Crews Worked Through the Night

To Replace Utility Pole

Bear Valley Electric Service (BVES) fully restored power to customers, following a traffic incident (Tuesday, January 30th) that damaged a utility pole and prompted an electric outage for approximately 2,364 customers in the Big Bear City, Erwin Lake and Lake Williams communities. Power was restored to more than 2,300 of the impacted customers by approximately 7:00 P.M., and crews worked through the night to completely resolve the outage by Wednesday at 5:00 A.M. 

Bear Valley Electric Service was alerted of the vehicle collision and downed utility pole on Tuesday at 4:40 P.M., and immediately dispatched crews to the site of the incident along State Route-38, near Mann Drive.

Additional resources were mobilized to address the damage and mitigate any risk to the public. Caltrans and the California Highway Patrol crews assisted with traffic control, while BVES crews replaced the damaged pole and worked to resolve the outage.

During the outage, BVES informed customers of the situation and provided real-time updates through its website and Facebook page.

Bear Valley Electric Service reminds customers to stay clear of downed power-lines, and encourages the community to report downed power-lines by calling (800) 808-2837.
