Mountain Residents ONLY Permitted in the San Bernardinos

The California Highway Patrol has advised that the State Routes (SR) in the San Bernardino Mountains are open to residents only… due to the current highway and poor weather conditions. Residents must have proof of residency and chains before they will be permitted to pass through chain control.

Caltrans is working diligently to clear the clear the mountain highways of stranded vehicles and excessive snowfall.

Closures are located as follows:

State Route 18 is closed just above Panorama Point coming up from San Bernardino.   

State Route 18 is closed at Mitsubishi Plant Road coming up from Lucerne Valley.   

State Route 38 is closed at Bryant Street near Yucaipa.   

State Route 330 is closed just above Highland Avenue in Highland.  

State Route 138 is closed at Pilot Rock east of Interstate 15.   

This does not apply to • State Route 138 and • State Route 2 west of Interstate 15.

UPDATE by California Highway Patrol announced Monday (January 23rd) that the Residents Only has been canceled. San Bernardino Mountains roads to communities, State Routes 18, 330, 38, 138 are still being monitored by Caltrans and CHP, as the road conditions are hazardous.
