Paul Cook on Hezbollah

WASHINGTON D.C. ___ Representative Cook (R-Apple Valley) voted for HR 2297, the Hezbollah International Financing Prevention Act. Rep. Cook was a cosponsor of this legislation.

This bill takes a comprehensive approach to confronting one of the greatest threats to the United States by broadening financial sector sanctions against Hezbollah. This bill would strengthen America’s ability to go after the counterfeiting and narcotics operations it uses for funding. Additionally, it would cripple al-Manar, a television station that spreads violence and broadcasts pro-Hezbollah propaganda. The bill also states that it is the policy of the United States to prevent Hezbollah’s global logistics and financial network from operating in order to curtail its domestic and international activities. 

Cook said, “Before 9/11, Hezbollah, a terrorist arm of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, was responsible for more American deaths than any other terrorist organization.

It’s absolutely essential that the United States does everything we can to protect America and our allies. I’m proud to have cosponsored and voted for this key bill to combat Iranian terror.” 

A member of the House Natural Resources, Armed Services, and Foreign Affairs Committees, Representative Paul Cook served as an infantry officer and retired after 26 years as a Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corps. During his time in combat, he was awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts.
