Hospitalized
with Major Injuries
Police responded
to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian, Wednesday evening, October 31, 2018. The accident occurred at approximately 7:00 P.M.,
at Bear Valley Road near Central Road.
Upon arrival the
officers located a male down, in the roadway Apple Valley. They learned that previously
the man was crossing Bear Valley Road, in the southbound lane. He wasn’t in the
crosswalk, when he was struck by a 1999 Chevy Suburban.
The Suburban driver was traveling eastbound on Bear Valley Road and was unable to stop
before striking the pedestrian.
As quickly as
possible, medical personnel arrived on scene and the pedestrian was transported
to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center via Mercy Air ambulance with severe head
trauma.
The Apple Valley Police Officers responded to the scene to conduct the
investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of the
Suburban was not impaired. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be a factor. All
parties remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement.
