San Bernardino, California ____ The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) continues the paving project on State Route 18 (SR 18) in Big Bear Lake, from Talmadge Road to Pineview Drive in Big Bear City.

The actual grind and pave portion of the project is set to begin Monday August 28th.  The work hours will remain Monday through Thursday from 7:00 A.M. and 4:00 P.M. There will be no lane closures Friday through Sunday. No work will be done during Labor Day weekend, September 1st until the following Wednesday, September 6th.

Lane closures and traffic control will be in place from now until the end of September 2017, to complete the grinding and paving work in one direction of State Route-18, each day starting with the median and then the #1 and #2 lanes.

The work will start at either Paine Road (Big Bear Lake) or Stanfield Cut-off (eastward into Big Bear City) and continue in one direction each day. A two-hour window will be necessary after the paving is completed to allow the material to set up before traffic can be permitted on that specific portion of the roadway.

Motorists are advised that they will experience delays during the grind and pave

operation.  Caltrans staff will be on site to monitor traffic in an effort to minimize delays to the motoring public, the community and businesses.

All work is dependent of weather. The entire Big Bear Boulevard Rehabilitation Project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2017.
