To Hemet & Idyllwild Communities
California Department of
Transportation and Ames Construction, Saturday, August 11, 2018, announced
the finished repairs along State Route 74 (SR-74) and State Route 243 (SR-243),
east of Hemet and near Idyllwild, that have enabled them to open SR-74.
Caltrans crews
and Ames Construction installed a total of 9,100
linear feet of guardrail on both routes, cleaned or repaired 25 basins and
culverts, and installed signage along the routes that were damaged during
the Cranston Fire.
Crews will continue to repair 30
more drains and culverts next week. In addition, a pipe repair will continue at post mile 54.06, close to Strawberry
Creek. Escorts have been discontinued and motorists can anticipate traffic
control in areas along State Route 74 as repairs continue.
