Health Care Tax 

WRONG Prescription for Californians

Sacramento, California___  In early February 2016, as the Legislative special session on health care continued, Senators Mike Morrell (R-Rancho Cucamonga) and John Moorlach (R-Costa Mesa) said majority Democrats should focus less on tax increases and more on existing budget resources to fund medical services for the state’s most vulnerable.

“With some of the highest taxes in the nation, California’s middle class cannot afford another tax increase. Republicans have worked hard so that people can keep more of the money they earn. We remain committed to that principle.

“Yet at a time when Democrats contend that the state budget has billions of dollars in surplus, they are pushing for new health care taxes.”

“The federal government made a promise to the American people that the President’s health care law would drive down the costs of medical care for all citizens. Now they want to force Californians to pay even more to make their plan work.

“We hope the health care plans do not want to find themselves in a position of having to pass a tax increase along to their members and policyholders.

“We believe all Republicans should stand with families across California in opposing any proposal that will further drive up the already high cost of medical care in our state.”
