FAA Officials to Address Flight Path Concerns in Lake
Arrowhead
Washington D.C. ____ Representative Paul Cook
(R-Apple Valley) announced today that the Lake Arrowhead Municipal Advisory
Council (MAC) will host a Community Meeting with Federal Aviation
Administration (FAA) officials at 6:00 P.M., Thursday January 25th,
at the Lake Arrowhead Resort and Spa.
Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA) officials will address residents’ concerns about noise increases due to
new flight patterns implemented by the FAA in an attempt to streamline airspace
throughout Southern California. Representative Cook has worked with a
bipartisan coalition of federal representatives, Supervisor Rutherford, and the
Lake Arrowhead MAC to arrange the meeting with FAA officials.
Representative Cook has had multiple meetings with FAA official to discuss what
can be done to move the flight path away from populated areas and just last
month sent a survey to the entire Lake Arrowhead community to learn more about
how the community has impacted.
Representative Cook said, "Since
this issue was brought to my attention, I’ve worked closely with Supervisor
Rutherford and my colleagues in the House and Senate to ensure the FAA hears
the community’s voice. This meeting will provide mountain residents with the
opportunity they should have had months ago: to hear from FAA officials about
flight pattern changes that affected their community. I hope the FAA has heard
the outcry from the residents over the past nine months and will be ready to
offer a real solution.”
Supervisor
Rutherford, who represents Lake Arrowhead on the San Bernardino Board of
Supervisors, said “I have received
numerous emails and calls from residents upset about how the flight path change
has disrupted their community. Like many in the community, I was disappointed
in how the agency handled the public notices for the flight path changes.
However, I appreciate that the FAA is making this effort to speak to
residents.”
David Caine, founder of Quiet Skies Lake Arrowhead, said “I am hopeful that this meeting will be productive in bringing quieter
skies for the people of Lake Arrowhead. This meeting is long overdue, and I’d
like to thank Congressman Cook and the rest of our elected representatives for
continuing to hold the FAA accountable for their misguided and shortsighted
actions. Lake Arrowhead residents will finally be able to have the public
meeting that should have come long before any changes were implemented.”
