SR 330
Passing
Lane Accident
|
At about 10:30 A.M Thursday February 4th,
Ying He from Monterey Park, California, was
driving her Toyota Camry southbound on State Route 330
and 4.70 miles south of Live Oak
Drive, near Running Springs. It was determined that He’s Toyota was traveling at an unsafe speed for the sharp right
curve approaching.
At approximately the same time a second vehicle,
a GMC Pick-up driven by Miguel Angel Navarro, of Santa Ana, California, was north-bound on SR-330 entering a left curve at a stated speed of 30 mph.
Due to He’s Toyota
traveling at an unsafe speed through the right curve, she was unable to
maintain the southbound lane. The Toyota slid across the double yellow center
line directly into the path of the GMC Pick-up. The front of Toyota struck the left side of the Pick-up, in the
northbound lane. The impact spun the GMC Pick-up into a counter-clockwise
direction, with the second vehicle finally resting on the east dirt shoulder on
its wheels, facing in a southerly direction. The Toyota came to rest on its
wheels against the west guardrail, south of the Pick-up facing in a westerly
direction.
Drive Navarro sustained minor injuries. Both the Toyota and the GMC Pick-up both received major damage. The California Highway Patrol’s Summary was based on statements and
physical evidence.
