San Bernardino County Fire Investigators and San Bernardino County Sheriff Arson/Bomb were summoned Sunday afternoon, to the scene of a structure
fire in Crestline, to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
San Bernardino County Fire Fighters responded to the multiple-report of a structure
fire near the area of South Village Lane and Crest Forest Drive.
The Fire Fighters from nearby Station #25, arrived in approximately (4)
minutes to find heavy smoke and fire conditions coming from the two-story home.
Responding to the intense blaze was San Bernardino County Fire Fighters with 4 Medic Engines, 2 Medic Ambulances, and a
Battalion Fire Chief. Cal-Fire also responded to the incident due to the threat to
surrounding vegetation.
Bystanders on scene reported that parties were possibly trapped inside
the house. Fire Fighters engaged in an aggressive interior attack but were
temporarily pushed back by heavy smoke and fire conditions.
Upon arrival of additional resources, Fire Fighters quickly gained the
upper hand by engaging in a coordinated attack with interior hose lines and
vertical ventilation, knocking the fire down in approximately 35 minutes.
During the primary search for victims, Fire
Fighters located (1) elderly female who had perished in the fire.
San Bernardino County Fire Investigators
and San Bernardino County Sheriff Arson/Bomb will continue to investigate the fatality, cause and origin of the
structure fire. Damage totals are estimated at $200,000.
