Service 3N-07 at 3N-16 Roads
Early Saturday Afternoon
U.S. FOREST SERVICE in the San Bernardino Forest, north
of Big Bear Lake, California a vegetation fire was determined at 1:52 P.M.,
Saturday, May 4, 2019, located at Forest
Roads 3N-07 at 3N-16, near
the Pinnacles in Holcomb Valley (a favorite area for outdoor adventurists and
off-road enthusiasts, the historical area of gold mining in the late
1800’s). Immediate response by the Forest Service began
with full aircraft attack.
The original area of
the fire was approximately one-half acre and spreading slowly. Propane tanks in the area were of concern to
fire-fighting crews. Ground units were
quick to contain the wildfire, with the assistance of Air Attack 310, Tanker
T83, and Tanker T93, dropping retardant and boxing the fire. The air units were released approximately
3:00 P.M.

The fire in Holcomb Valley near
the Pinnacles climbing area was ¼ acre and 95% contained. It spread to the vegetation from a trailer
that caught fire for unknown reasons.
Assisting on scene was San Bernardino County Fire Department, Big Bear
Fire Department, with two small tankers that dropped retardant.
