Veterans Honored in Washington D.C.
May
22, 2014 ____ A ceremony to honor 18 WWII Veteran scheduled at LAX on Sunday,
May 18, 2014 at noon. These heroes returned
from a “trip of a lifetime” to see their WWII Memorials along with eight other
Monuments to US servicemen. The group
represents Southern California Veterans aged from age 81 to 101. The group is partially made up of a set of
brothers, two who knew each other many years ago, two neighbors within blocks
of each other’s residence and two Tuskegee Airmen.
Upon
their arrival at LAX they were greeted with wheelchairs and escorted into the
Southwest Ticketing area by a 12 year old Navy Sea Cadet. This special sendoff included over 30
motorcycle veterans from the Patriot Guard Riders, family, friends as well as
the volunteer Guardians that accompany the Veterans to insure their safety and
Honor Flight of the Inland Empire volunteers.
The excitement was electrifying as other travelers and enlisted
servicemen stopped to say thank you.
Because
of the increasing age of these Veterans donations are very important to
accomplish the goal of the Honor Flight of the Inland Empire to send all
Veterans to Washington D C. Although
WWII Veterans are being processed at this time, all applications are
welcome.
