Visits History Alive...Chautauqua
It’s an annual tradition in
Big Bear Valley during Old Miners Days! For the sixteenth consecutive year, the
Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library
will again present the annual Chautauqua program. This community service program
invites the public to enjoy this significant chapter in history.
In keeping with the Chautauqua
theme of portrayal of a historical character, the well known WWII General
George Patton has been selected. Portrayed by Stan Wolcott, a Big
Bear Lake resident, he has portrayed this role for 25 years at the Patton
Museum at Chiriaco Summit as well as many other civic and historical venues
throughout Southern California. Wolcott attended as General Patton at the 65th
D-Day Anniversary in France. He is recognized as one of the most accurate
and realistic Patton impersonators in the United States.
The General George Patton Chautauqua
presentation will be Saturday July 25th, beginning at 7:00 P.M. The
event will take place across the street from the Big Bear Valley Library at Summit
Christian Fellowship Church. Reservations are not necessary, although it’s
suggested to arrive early to the popular event.
The Friends of the Big Bear Valley Library welcomes Chautauqua guests to
the reception following the program, at the Library, located at 41930 Garstin
Drive in Big Bear Lake.
