Big Bear Fire Authority was formed under a Joint Powers Agreement in 2012 combining Big Bear Lake Fire Protection District and Big Bear City Fire Department, now commonly known as Big Bear Fire Department. Thursday June 15th afternoon, a residential structure fire was reported to the Big Bear Fire Department at approximately 2:45 P.M., in Big Bear Lake at Lakeview Drive and Lagunita Lane.

Upon arrival, Fire Crews observed the approximately 1,000 square foot, single-story, single family residence was fully charged with smoke and flames visible from the exterior. Fire Fighters made entry through the front door and took about 20 minutes to suppress the blaze. 

Seven Big Bear Fire Fighters responded with three engines and two ambulances. Fire Chief Jeff Willis and Assistant Fire Chief Mike Maltby were on-scene along with Fire Prevention Officer Nick Bruinsma. The structure fire was confined to the interior with damage to the living room. The home was unoccupied at the time and there were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation by Big Bear Fire Department.
