Multiple People Rescued
From Santa Ana Riverbed
Thursday,
February 14, 2019____
There
was a large amount of rain in the city of San Bernardino and nearby foothills of
the San Bernardino Mountains, from the afternoon of Wednesday, February 13th,
continuing through Thursday February 14th.
Early
Thursday the Colton Fire Department, San
Bernardino County Fire Department, Redlands and Cal-Fire Riverside received
several reports of numerous people who were stranded on islands in the Santa Ana
Riverbed, because of the fast moving, rising water.
San Bernardino County Sheriff
40-King 1 and Air Rescue 306 (helicopters) were requested to assist with the swift water
rescues.
40-King 1 conducted the rescue of
eleven people, at three separate locations by hovering near their position and
assisting them into the helicopter. The Rescue
Teams transported all the victims to waiting medical aid.
Air Rescue 306 (seen in video) rescued
one person by hovering near him, assisting him into the helicopter and
transporting him to waiting medical aid.
Air Rescue 306 then conducted the
hoist rescue of three people who were also stranded, by hoisting down a Medic
from the San Bernardino County Fire Crews
to the victims. The victims were all safely hoisted up to the helicopters and
transported to medical aid.
