Join Forces with OHV Enthusiasts

During the months of March and April 2022, the San Bernardino County Sheriff  Department, Off-Road Team, collaborated with the United States Department of Agriculture – Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, Army Corp of Engineers, Hesperia Parks District, Hesperia Police Department, BNSF Railway, and the San Bernardino County Auto Theft Task Force (SANCATT) to patrol off-highway vehicle areas.

The goal was to contact off-highway vehicle enthusiasts and educate them in the safe and proper use of off highway vehicles, to include use of helmets and seat belts and operating on designated OHV trails and open areas. Many enthusiasts were unaware of legal and open riding areas. Maps, information, and guidance was provided to over 2,000 enthusiasts.

The County of San Bernardino Sheriff Department supports responsible and safe off-highway vehicle use and encourages enthusiasts to use the links below to learn about and discover the numerous legal off-highway vehicle opportunities in the county.

Enforcement actions were taken in a small number of circumstances. In total, 15 citations were issued, 459 warnings were given, 1 arrest was made, and 2 vehicles were towed. Deputies also provided medical aid to an injured motorcycle rider, who was transported to a hospital for treatment.
