Washington D.C. ____ Tuesday, February 5, 2019, Congressman Paul Cook (R- Apple Valley) issued this statement in response to President Trump’s State of the Union Address:

“President Trump highlighted many of the accomplishments from the past two years, as well as many of the challenges we face ahead. Most importantly, he called for a renewed spirit of bipartisanship instead of more gridlock, frustration, and paralysis.

“As I’ve said before, the most important task of the federal government is to keep its citizens safe, and I agree with President Trump that we must secure our border. We must also confront the rising cost of healthcare, which requires a real bipartisan solution in order to have a lasting effect.

“Despite these challenges, we as Americans can take pride in our economic progress made in recent years: record low-unemployment, tax cuts that have benefited the overwhelming majority of Americans, and an economy that remains strong. I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues in the months ahead to build an even stronger and safer America.”
