San Bernardino County Fire San Bernardino County, CA –

Due to lowering temperatures and increase of precipitation throughout the County of San Bernardino, the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District will revoke the suspension of all open burning and other open fires, effective 6:00 am on Monday, December 20, 2021.

Residents, camps, farms and other businesses will need a permit to conduct open burning on their property, which can be obtained by visiting the County Fire District website at www.sbcfire.org under “Burn Permit Status” on the home page. There is no cost for the permit. Those wishing to burn must confirm with the local dispatch center that it is a permissive burn day by calling (909) 356-3805, prior to conducting a burn.

Some types of open and outdoor fires are always exempt from a permit, such as gas-fired barbeques and portable outdoor fireplaces. Unlawful fires or fires conducted without a permit may not only pose a serious threat to public health and safety but may result in administrative or legal action against the person kindling the fire or the owner of the property on which the fire occurs.

Open burn permits are only valid on private properties within the jurisdiction of the County Fire District. This includes much, but not all, of the unincorporated areas, and several incorporated cities. Properties within other Fire Districts, or within State or Federal Responsibility Areas, are subject to different permits and requirements.

An official proclamation revoking the burn suspension, important links, maps and other helpful information is provided on the County Fire District website to assist the public in determining the right agency.

For more information please contact Office of the Fire Marshal at (909) 386-8400 or visit www.sbcfire.org
