Loma Linda Man Arrested
for Boys Burn Injuries
A
two-year old boy was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC)
for second-degree burns, Monday, June 15, 2020.
During the medical examination, pediatricians determined the burns were
not caused by an accident. San Bernardino County Sheriff Deputies from Central
Station responded to the hospital to conduct the investigation. The Sheriff Investigators learned that the
two-year-old victim resided in Loma Linda with 26 year-old Derek Lemos of Loma
Linda.
During
the investigation, it was determined the child was burned while at his
residence in Loma Linda. Lemos was found to have intentionally caused the burns
to the young boy resulting in Lemos’ arrest and booking at Central Detention
Center.
In compliance with the statewide recent COVID-19 Emergency Bail Schedule,
bail for most misdemeanor and felony offenses must be set at $0. Because of
this criteria, Lemos was released from custody following the booking process.
The case was forwarded to the San Bernardino County District Attorney's
Office.
