DAWN ROWE
Speaker
At Republican Meeting

Tuesday evening, April 16th, the Big Bear Valley Republicans Assembly will meet at 6:00
P.M. The
public is invited to join the BBVRA members at the monthly meetings
that include informative political related projects, guest speakers and
community interest updates. Updates from the City of Big Bear Lake, San
Bernardino County, State and Federal representatives will be reported.
A
change of meeting venue will be to Wyatts in the
Convention
Center at Big Bear Lake, located at 42900 Big Bear
Boulevard.
The
guest speaker is San Bernardino County Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe.
A
Southern California native, Third District Supervisor Dawn Rowe was appointed
to the Board of Supervisors in December 2018. Prior to serving on the Board,
Dawn was a member of the Yucca Valley Town Council from 2010 to 2014, during
which time she was selected by her peers to serve as Mayor.
Dawn cemented her status as a leading voice within her desert community. From
advocating for increased Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) access on public lands to
eliminating burdensome regulations that stifle local economies, she is
committed to making a difference.
Following
the death of her husband, Marine Corps Capt. Alan Rowe, during combat
operations in Iraq, Dawn became involved in land development to support her
family. However, after experiencing a number of setbacks due to onerous
land-use restrictions, Dawn worked alongside her local elected officials to
find creative solutions for thoughtful development in her hometown.
She
was appointed to the Yucca Valley Planning Commission (2008-2010). Eventually,
she was elected to the Town Council by Yucca Valley residents and served
one-term before stepping aside to spend more time with her two children, Blake
and Caitlin.
Due to her exceptional community work within the Morongo Basin, Dawn was
brought on to the staff of then-Assemblyman Paul Cook (AD-65) as a Field
Representative in 2008. She transitioned to his Congressional staff in 2012
when he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives. As a Field
Representative for Congressman Cook, Dawn was integral in negotiating a
legislative solution that resulted in the protection of thousands of acres of
popular OHV trails from closure due to the expansion of the Marine Corps Air
Ground Combat Center in Twentynine Palms.

Bear Boulevard and Division Road, in Big Bear Lake.

BBVRA Social Hour at Wyatts begins at 5:00 P.M. This is an opportunity to order
dinner before the meeting begins at 6:00 P.M.
