Tribute to VETERANS DAY

E.T. Russell, November 3, 2013 _____ Americans will gather in thousands of communities across the nation on Monday November 11, 2013 at 11:11 AM. to honor the country’s military veterans. In Big Bear Valley the Veterans Day commemorative ceremony will be held Monday morning at The Convention Center at Big Bear Lake. U.S. Veterans are encouraged to join in the activities with all friends and families invited to celebrate with them.
American Legion Post Commander Bruce Scott has composed a special tribute to all Veterans. The program will open with the customary American Legion Post 584 Honor Guard posting of the Colors. Mayor Jay Obernolte will be representing the City of Big Bear Lake. A word of inspiration will be noted by Chaplain Hank Peralez and Post Adjutant Bill Wilson will quote a poem "A Soldier Died Today". Veterans in the audience will be encouraged to tell about their military experiences when serving their country.
As is a Big Bear Valley Veterans Day tradition, the American Legion Post #584 will host a lunch for guests at the Big Bear Lake location, 41606 Big Bear Boulevard. Immediately after the service, the Post will start serving the $5 per person lunch consisting of large beef burgers, Polish sausage, baked beans and green salad.
