About Public Safety Issues

Assemblyman Jay Obernolte

Obernolte-reduced 10-18_ET.jpg   California’s budget was just signed and it includes some worthwhile new investments to keep our communities safe:

  • $25 million to support regional emergency response and readiness.

  • $50 million to support crime prevention and victim assistance.

  • $75 million to prepare for and respond to power shut-off events.

However, I feel strongly that there is much more we should be doing.

Human traffickers are still eligible for early release from prison, punishments for criminals who repeatedly break the law are still too soft, and we need to crack down on threats made to schools and places of worship.

I’d like to hear your thoughts on public safety issues or concerns in our community. Please take this short survey and share your opinions.
