It’ll be another familiar Rocky Mountain High, Saturday evening when Jim Curry and his musicians take center stage for another back ‘by-popular-demand’ performance at the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater. The Tribute music of the late John Denver, Curry’s friend returns to Big Bear Valley audiences, after numorous Denver concerts through the years with ‘Hey it’s good to be back home again…’ Saturday September 5th.

Tribute artist Jim Curry, whose voice was heard in the CBS-TV movie Take Me Home: The Curry Tribute Band has performed Denver’s music in sold-out shows throughout the country. Curry has emerged as today’s top performer of Denver’s vast legacy of multi-platinum hits.   

Curry’s uncanny ability to mirror John’s voice and clean-cut look takes you back to the time when, Sunshine, Calypso, Love Is Everywhere and Annie’s Song, topped the charts, and Denver’s popular music had the heartfelt message of caring for the earth and caring for each other.   

The Saturday evening concert begins at 5:00 P.M. with Bear Big Valley sensation, Nikki Sparks, delivering her own brand of country and rock on acoustic guitar.  

‘We’re thrilled to have the Curry’s Tribute Band back to help celebrate Season 10evening and honor the thousands of dollars he helped raise through his tribute to John Denver’s music.  How appropriate to end a milestone season of fundraising with a tribute to the artist that first raised our awareness to take care of our mountains, planet and each other,” shared Music in the Mountains Producer, Kathy Clapsaddle.

Music loving dogs on leash are welcome and admitted free.  Gates open at 5:00 P.M.;

Full-time residents of the Big Bear Valley and U.S. Military can save $5 on general admission tickets with proof; $30 each adult.  

Discounts are available at the Big Bear Visitors Center, 630 Bartlett, located in the Village of Big Bear Lake; 7 days; 9:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.; not available online.  General admission guests need to bring their own chairs for seating in the open and casual areas.

The fundraising series, Music in the Mountains, is celebrating Season 10 with proceeds benefitting conservation and restoration programs in the Big Bear Valley and on the mountaintop.  In addition, funding supports youth education programs such as the After School Nature Club at two Bear Valley Unified Schools.

Parking & Miscellaneous

All parking at the Discovery Center will be pre-paid through ticket packages.  Parking gates will open at 5:00 P.M.  General admission parking is free and available at Meadows Edge Trailhead located ¼ mile west of the Discovery Center entrance. 

Free shuttles will run from 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M.   Complimentary handicap parking will be available on a first-come basis at the Discovery Center with appropriate tag or license plate as available.

  A beer, wine, and cocktail bar will be open for service offering a wide selection of ales, imports and domestic beers; popular red and white wines, custom-made margaritas AND themed beverages.  No outside beverages (except bottled water) are allowed in accordance with state ABC license requirements; however, guests may bring their own picnic

Reserved bench seating and general admission seating available on a first-come basis; however, members of the Southern California Mountains Foundation will have early access to reserve their seats prior to gates open (Noon to 3:00 P.M.).  General admission ticket holders must bring their own beach chairs for the open and casual seating areas.
