LOCATION: Big Bear Jail – 477 Summit Blvd., Big Bear Lake
SUSPECT: Richard Harold Todd, 60 years old, resident of Big Bear City
SUMMARY:
Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 1:20 p.m.,
Detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 300 block of East Country Club Blvd. related to a child molestation investigation. The suspect, Richard Todd was taken into custody without incident and booked at Big Bear jail for Sexual Molestation of a Minor, Possession of Child Pornography and Possession of an Illegal Assault Rifle.
Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at 4:20 a.m.,
the jail deputy was conducting his observation logs when he saw Todd hanging from the bars of his cell, with his shoelaces tied around his neck. The deputy quickly cut the shoelaces from his neck and called for medical aid. Medical personnel responded and pronounced Todd dead at the scene. Todd was housed alone in the cell.
