I-15 Interchange Projects In

Victorville & Apple Valley

San Bernardino, Wednesday August 24, 2016____

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is urging motorists to slow down through the interchange projects on Interstate 15 (I-15) through Victorville and Apple Valley.

The $71 million project began earlier this year to widen the Mojave River Bridge and rebuild the interchanges at Stoddard Wells, D Street, and E Street and is being built by Ames Construction.

Interstate 15 through the construction zone has reduced lanes with smaller widths, lane configuration changes, night work and daily construction activity.  Caltrans has placed signage and traffic measures to try and slow traffic through the work zone not only to protect the workers, but also to protect motorists and their passengers.

Caltrans continues to partner with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) who are providing enhanced enforcement during work hours.  However, motorists continue to travel at top speeds in excess of the 70 mile per hour posted speed limit through the construction zone.

Motorists are being advised that the CHP is now issuing citations for speed violations and other traffic offenses through the project limits.  As a reminder, citations can lead to double fines if received within the work zone.

The project will continue to require lane and ramp closures including some full directional closures and is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, weather permitting.

Caltrans will continue to keep the public informed with the schedule of work and closures as the project progresses.  To stay updated on the I-15 Interchange Project in Victorville, please go to our website at http://sv08data.dot.ca.gov/memos/memos.php?f=subscribe and sign up for alerts or visit the project page at http://www.dot.ca.gov/dist8/Project-I-15-Victorville-Interchange.html.
