San Bernardino County Sheriff Dive Team

 

Saturday, May 4, 2019, San Bernardino County Sheriff /Big Bear Station Deputies were notified at 1:46 P.M. to possible two victims drowning in Big Bear Lake.  The Sheriff Deputies arrived on the scene at approximately 1:52 P.M. of multiple witnesses.

The two victims had been on a pontoon boat with several other subjects, when they dove into the lake. Almost immediately, both victims began having trouble swimming and needed rescue. One of the victims was successfully pulled from the cold water and was in stable condition. Witnesses and Lake Patrol lost visual of the second victim, Edwin Anzaldo, and contacted the San Bernardino County Sheriff. 

 

Immediately, the San Bernardino County Sheriff Dive Team responded to the Big Bear Lake incident. Lake water conditions during the search and recovery were approximately 53 degrees with near zero visibility. At approximately 8:00 P.M., the body of Edwin Anzaldo, 25 years old, a of resident Panorama City was located, using underwater sonar, 31 feet below the surface.  The victim’s body was transported back to shore and the San Bernardino County Sheriff Coroner notified.
