Following an extensive investigation, Big Bear Sheriff Detectives arrested 51 year-old David Lynn Sandstrom Tuesday November 17th.  Sandstrom was arrested and charged for illegal sexual acts with a child under the age of 10. Sandstrom and the juvenile victim are residents of Los Angeles County.

The case was reported in late August to the Los Angeles Police Department. During the initial investigation, officers of the LAPD determined that Sandstrom perpetrated crimes against the victim in the City of Valencia and also at a rental cabin in the City of Big Bear Lake. Sandstrom is believed to have sexually violated the victim on multiple occasions over the past two years.

 Thursday November 5th, Detectives and the Big Bear Sheriff’s Multi-Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at Sandstrom’s residence in Alta Dena, California. During service of the search warrant, evidence, including electronic devices belonging to Sandstrom, were seized. Sandstrom was not home at the time the search warrant was served, and became evasive when Detectives attempted to locate him.

Subsequent to the search warrant, the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office filed a criminal complaint against suspect David Sandstrom and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Sandstrom sought legal counsel and turned himself in Tuesday morning, at San Bernardino County Sheriff Headquarters in. Sandstrom was taken into custody without incident and booked into West Valley Detention Center on felony charges of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 14, oral copulation on a victim under the age of 10, and sending harmful matter to a child for the purpose of seduction. David Sandstrom remains in custody in lieu of $1,000,000 bail. An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday November 19th.
