Thursday May 11, 2017____ Assembly Budget Committee Vice Chair  Obernolte (R-Hesperia) issued the following statement in response to the release of Governor Brown’s May revision of his 2017-18 budget proposal:

“In light of the uncertainty facing California, the Governor’s budget proposal makes some responsible choices.

“Unfortunately, the plan also includes a number of broken promises. Last year, California voters approved increases in the tobacco tax and income tax after they were assured that the revenue would be allocated to health care, dental care, and education. I am concerned that the Governor’s plan ignores the will of the voters by redirecting that money to the General Fund.

“The people of California deserve an honest budget. I’m committed to working with my colleagues in the Legislature and executive branch to make sure they get one.”
