The
vegetation/tree fire when smoke was first reported at 10:00 A.M., was not thought
to be an unusual report as, burned trees struck by lightning or assumed to be extinguished
previously, can smolder with fire in the trunks for sometimes months. Cautiously, Fire Fighters are on constant watch for the hidden dangers of
the tree fires. Just as dangerous, are the trees that are older and perhaps
dead, that can fall at any time and have been known to seriously injure or
fatally wound Fire Fighters. Such an incident did kill a Fire Fighter in
another wildfire in Northern California. His memorial service is today.
The
Monday morning Tree Fire was originally thought to be in the perimeter of the LAKE WildFire, which is still at 31,000 acres,
98% containment.
Forest Service HOT SHOTS will keep watch.
Determined
that the fire was contained in the area of the tree only, the Fire Fighters
checked that it was not spreading since the immediate attack just after reported
about 10:00 A.M.
10:40
A.M. Smoke will be visible all day and probably throughout the week.
