Motorcyclist Fatality Friday

On 10/13/17, at 12:27 PM, a collision between an automobile and a motorcycle was reported along State Route 38, in the area of Jenks Lake (Angelus Oaks). The motorcyclist, Murray Francis Newton, a 50 year old resident of Mountain House (San Joaquin County), California, was traveling with a group of riders eastbound along SR38, when he lost control of his Harley-Davidson on a curve, causing him to slide into the on-coming traffic lane, where Newton collided with a westbound automobile. Emergency medical providers from Big Bear Fire Department arrived on scene and Newton was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:18 PM. The collision is under investigation by California Highway Patrol – San Bernardino. [101417 0637 TC] 


 

California Highway Patrol Officers - Arrowhead Area, Running Springs responded Friday October 13, 2017, at approximately 12:29 P.M, to the scene of a two vehicle traffic collision on State Route-38, Jenks Lake Road East.   

 A 50-year old white male resident of Mountain Home, California, was driving a black, 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle, eastbound on SR-38, east of Jenks Lake Road East.  

For unknown reasons, the Harley Davidson crossed over the double-yellow lines and entered onto the westbound lane of SR-38, directly into the path of the Nissan Sentra.  As a result, the Nissan Sentra collided with the Harley Davidson and a white male adult.   

Immediately, the collision caused the roadway to be blocked and motorists could expect a delay on SR-38. 

CPR was performed at the scene on the white male adult.  San Bernardino County Fire Personnel pronounced the white male adult deceased on scene at 1:18 P.M.  The name of the white male adult will be disclosed pending next of kin verification.
