VA Loma Linda Health Care System and the American Legion Post #584 of Big Bear Lake offer the services 0f VA Loma Linda Mental Health outreach opportunity to the Veterans and families of Big Bear Valley.  Tuesday October 17th the VA Loma Linda Mental Health and Peer Support specialists will provide presentations on mental health and the Clay Hunt Suicide Prevention for American Veterans (SAV) Act, beginning at 11:00 A.M until 1:00 P.M.   

According to Dr. Marion Sherman, Chief, Mental Health, VA Loma Linda Health Care System,  “The purpose of these mental health and Clay Hunt SAV outreach initiatives, is to iidentify symptoms of mental illness/injury or substance use disorders, educate Veterans that effective treatment is available and de-stigmatize and normalize mental health treatment.”   

VA Loma Linda’s Women’s Health Representatives will also be available with information and educational materials female Veterans about health care programs and services available through the Veterans Association, as well.   

All Veterans and family members are encouraged to attend the outreach event to learn more about mental health and suicide prevention services that are available through VA and through community agencies.
